Your Live Performance

Lula Belle has always loved making other people happy using her voice and performance, an ambition she inherited from her Grandmother. Also handed down to her was a love of great jazz in all its forms!  Lula will fill your event with the soul of the Great American songbook from 1930s romantic ballads, swing and jive, to soul show stoppers, with a regular returns to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Doris Day and the Rat Pack inbetween!

Starting in Cheshire performing solo and with local bands, Lula has grown her act into a performance that travels across the UK. Lula’s act is very versatile and you can choose a solo self-contained performance with high quality backing tracks, a duo (as part of Diamond Blue, (click the link to view) or in a combination of her musicians up to a full 7 piece band.

The solo and duo setup is compact and very portable, and is ideal for parties where everyone wants to swing!

With the aim to be always polite and professional, Lula will discuss with you personally your wishes for your event, and offer advice on building your ideal music set. Lula’s wonderful and timeless vintage sound is matched in her dress and presentation - You may even be able to negotiate her hair bright hair colour matching your colour scheme!

Mike Pinera - Lead guitar, lead vocals  BLUES IMAGE – IRON BUTTERFLY

Mike Pinera, lead guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer from legendary rock groups BLUES IMAGE and IRON BUTTERFLY. His first group Blues Image had a major hit with “RIDE CAPTAIN RIDE” which Mike co-wrote and sang.

Mike later joined IRON BUTTERFLY. The Butterfly’s mega hit “IN A GADDA DA VIDA”  is the first Platinum Record Award in music history. It has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Pinera’s playing and songs are featured on the albums METAMORPHOSIS, EVOLUTION, BEST OF THE IRON BUTTERFLY, LIGHT & HEAVY. The DVD, IN A GADDA DA VIDA with Pinera is still a best seller today.

Later Mike and JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE drummer MITCH MITCHELL formed the band RAMATAM. In the late 70’s Mike first solo album ISLA was released on Capricorn Records and his second release a year later, FOREVER on Spector/Capitol. Self-written and produced, he had a hit single with the song GOODNIGHT MY LOVE.

Mike then joined ALICE COOPER. He is on the albums SPECIAL FORCES and ZIPPER CATCHES FLESH. His new album is titled “IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN.” For all the folks who over the years have asked “what does IN A GADDA DA VIDA mean?”

Mike is the founding member of THE CLASSIC ROCK ALL-STARS.

Goldy McJohn- Keyboards, STEPPENWOLF

Goldy McJohn is the keyboard player best known as the original keyboardist and founder of the group STEPPENWOLF. Originally a classically trained pianist, he was a pioneer in the early use of the electronic organ in rock music.

The band’s exemplary debut album included “Born To Be Wild” which reached number 2 in the US charts. It was featured in the famous opening sequence of the movie Easy Rider, and has since acquired classic status.

Steppenwolf actively cultivated a menacing, hard rock image, and successive collections mixed this heavy style with blues. “Magic Carpet Ride” and “Rock Me” were also US Top 10 singles.

In 1964, he played with a local band, the Mynah Birds, which also included Rick James, Bruce Palmer of Buffalo Springfield and Neil Young.  In March 1965, he joined The Sparrows in September of that year. The band with various changes went on to become Steppenwolf and he remained with the group throughout it’s record-breaking success years from 1967 to 1974.

Goldy is the creator, innovator, of the huge screaming organ sound made popular by Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Spencer Davis Group, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, to name a few.

Albert Bouchard -Drums, BLUE OYSTER CULT

Drummer, singer, guitarist and songwriter Albert Bouchard was a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult and a driving force through the band’s most popular first decade.

Albert’s songwriting was always very present in the band, and he was always experimenting and working with different collaborators.

In 1981 Albert left Blue Oyster Cult and began work on the music that would continue his legacy. Albert’s creative drumming sets him apart from most other rock drummers. Never predictable and always entertaining, Albert’s mastery of rhythm and dynamics is always a treat to hear. Classic Rock euphoria is to hear Albert singing and drumming the monster hits he recorded and performed with Blue Oyster Cult, “Don’t Fear The Reaper” – “I’m Burning For You”  -  “Godzilla.”

They have sold over 24 million albums worldwide – including 7 million in the U.S.

Prescott Niles - Bassist, THE KNACK

The band’s debut album, Get The Knack, was one of the year’s biggest albums, holding the number one spot on Billboard magazine’s album chart for five consecutive weeks and selling two million copies in the United States. Lead single “My Sharona” was a #1 hit in the US, and became the number one song of 1979. Follow-up single “Good Girls Don’t” peaked at #11.

Prescott Niles has brought his classical training and rock & roll sensibilities to many projects outside of his work with The Knack.

Prescott was thrilled to play on George Harrison’s “Shanghai Surprise” record and contribute with ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones to the “Miami Vice” soundtrack.

Prescott’s activities aren’t limited to recording.  He has appeared in the movies “I Crave Rock and Roll” as well as the classic coming of age picture “Valley Girls” starring academy award nominee Nicholas Cage.

In 1979 a monumental video release of The Knack Live at Carnegie Hall became an instant classic.

Diamond Blue provides a sassy, sax filled atmosphere of Latin & Jazz Standards, Classic tunes and Pop for your listening pleasure.

From studying at Leeds College of music in the 1980’son the first Jazz degree course in the UK, Diamond Blue graduated and launched straight into travelling the globe with some of the finest artists the UK has to offer. Diamond Blue has worked with many original musicians including Ashley Hutchings (of Fairport Convention and the Albion Band) which lead to appearances at major folk festivals in the UK and abroad, including Cambridge, and CD releases featuring her own compositions.

Impressive Venues and International Clients

In 1994 Diamond Blue began travelling extensively with singer Andy Leek (founder member of Dexy’s Midnight Runners) and has been performing at Weddings and Corporate Events across the UK ever since. Venues she has appeared at include The Savoy, Claridges, The Dorchester, The Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, The Royal Westmoreland Golf Club in Barbados and Suvretta House Hotel in St Moritz. Lead vocalist Deborah’s rich and sassy soul voice blended with the band’s punchy rhythms are a recipe for the perfect evening. SOULFIRE are one of our premier Soul Bands for hire and are based in Cheshire, and travel all over the UK/internationally.

Richard (Guitars) is one of the most respected guitarists of his generation. Noted for his virtuosic performance of lead, rhythm and bass on the guitar simultaneously he has taken SOULFIRE around the world, appearing with jazz funk mammoths Courtney Pine and Dennis Rollins from Jamiroquai along the way.

A consummate professional, as leader of the band they have been asked to appear at the most prestigious venues, including Sir Terence Conran’s Bluebird Club in Chelsea, The Hi-Fi and Liverpool’s renowned Cavern Club, performing classic songs from 60′s-today and original songs. SOULFIRE were the band of choice for very first wedding on BBC 2 series ‘Jimmy’s Farm’, Channel 4 show ‘High School Dance’ and have also been the subject of a prestigious BBC jazz feature.

Being full-time, professional musicians, all of the SOULFIRE members as part of their careers have either performed, written, and/or recorded with some of the world’s most varied artists: Jools Holland, Fontella Bass, Lionel Ritchie, The Stranglers, Corinne Bailey Rae, Cherry Ghost, Lily Allen, HURTS, The Ting Tings, The Christians, The Cinematic Orchestra, The Coral, M People, John Squire (-Stone Roses), The Average White Band, Embrace, Sam Brown and Elvis Costello include a few.

Competition and Chart Success

SOULFIRE have always knocked out the competition wherever they go: When Richard was aged just 20 his staggering talent won him places in the finals of both the ‘Young Jazz Musician of the Year’ show (hosted by Jools Holland) and beat 60,000 hopefuls to the ‘Acoustic Guitarist of the Year’ finals at Wembley. No stranger to the charts, the guys from this band have also written/performed on many chart hits including both UK and International number 1 singles and top ten album.
